JOHN W. LAW COMPANY
JOHN W. LAW COMPANY. In 1946 the Accounting Corporation of America announced that John W. Law, Jr. was appointed the Dubuque representative for the "Mail-Me-Monday Bookkeeping and Tax Method," a system of handling by mail the bookkeeping and tax filing of independent business firms. Under the plan, the merchant placed his cash register tapes, sales slips, salary records and other records in a provided envelope each Monday and mailed it to the local company. A statement was delivered to the client at the end of each month and tax forms were completed so that the client only had to write out a check. (1)
The 1957 Dubuque City Directory listed 825 1/2 Iowa.
The 1959 Dubuque City Directory listed 10 S. Main.
The 1962 through 1983 Dubuque City Directory listed 30 S. Locust. John W. Law Bookkeeping-Tax and Data Processing was the name in 1980.
The 1985 Dubuque City Directory listed 2345 John F. Kennedy Road.
Arnold N. HONKAMP joined the company in 1972 and by 1974 was the majority stockholder. In 1985 the name of the firm became Honkamp-Krueger & Company PC. which in 2013 was a Top 100 CPA firm in the nation. Honkamp later was involved in the establishment of Honkamp Krueger Financial Services Inc. and HK Payroll Services Inc. He retired in 2009 and held the title of CEO emeritus.
