JAMES GUTHRIE HOUSE. Located at 1005 Locust Street, this stately building constructed in 1898 was the home and office of GUTHRIE, James R. Dr. He graduated from the medical school of the University of Iowa in 1884.
Guthrie became so famous that in 1889 he was elected to the chair of physiology at the university. In 1898 he became the chair of gynecology, and in 1902 the Dean of the College of Medicine.
