HOUGH, Albert E. (Oelwein, IA, May 30, 1872--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 24, 1933). Hough entered the lumber business at the age of seventeen by working for businesses in Oelwein and Storm Lake. He came to Dubuque in 1903 as an employee of the STANDARD LUMBER COMPANY.

In January 1905 Hough joined the CENTRAL LUMBER AND COAL COMPANY, a company organized by the same people associated with the STANDARD LUMBER COMPANY. He was elected a director on January 8, 1919, a second vice-president on January 8, 1930 and first vice-president on February 15, 1930. In the three years before his death, he was in active charge of the company.
