HORSE-WHIPPING
HORSE-WHIPPING. The first white man publicly horsewhipped in Iowa, by a woman, was a resident of Dubuque. The whipping took place on Main Street, in the vicinity of the ground now occupied by the Post Office, in September, 1833. The whip was applied by Miss S - - until Mr. G--- agreed to deliver up her gold watch— which he did in a very polite and gentlemanly manner.
