HERARD, Joseph (Monsignor) (Cascade, IA--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 16, 2001) Herard, a graduate of LORAS COLLEGE, served the ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBUQUE in many capacities. He is perhaps best known as principal of WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL for ten years beginning in 1975.

Following his ordination, Herard served as the private secretary to Archbishop Henry P. ROHLMAN. In Dubuque he also taught at Loras and served as vice principal of Loras Academy. In 1987 he was named pastor of Resurrection Parish in Dubuque. Among the many characteristics for which he was remember was his work for social justice causes.
