HENDRICKS FEED AND SEED COMPANY. Started in 1929 by Albert Hendricks, the company moved to 880 Central in 1942. Earl and Bill, Sr. bought the store from their father. The third generation of family ownership in 2016 was Bill Hendricks. In 2019 the store operating out of both 88 and 898 Central had seven full-time and two part-time employees.

The business grew to include pet and garden supplies beyond is staples of livestock feed, seed corn, soybean seeds and fertilizer.

The business and Bill, Sr. were featured in the movie "Field of Dreams."

Hendricks announced plans to move after the city announced plans to purchase the property for the construction of a PARKING RAMP. These plans were delayed in November, 2022. A new location for the business was found at 2040 Kerper Blvd. and the company reopened for business in March, 2023. (1)

The 1939 through 1941 Dubuque City Directory listed Hendricks Feed Store at 656 Central.

The 1945 through 2019 Dubuque City Directory listed 880 Central.
