HARKETT'S FLORAL NURSERY. Harkett's Nursery was established in 1872 with the greenhouses containing 42,000 square feet of glass on Hill being constructed in 1877. At that time there was a second store at 9th and Main. (1) The business was operated by William A. HARKETT

The 1875-1876 Dubuque City Directory gave the address as 834 Main for W. A. Harkett at 357 Julien Avenue.

The 1899-1900 Dubuque City Directory listed 189 Hill.

The 1904-1905 Dubuque City Directory located this business at 892 Main (store) and the nursery at West 5th and Hill. These addresses were also used in 1909 and in the 1916-1917 White's Dubuque County Directory.

The 1922 Dubuque Telephone Directory listed 599 Hill and 900 Main.

The 1929 Dubuque City Directory and the 1937 Dubuque Consurvey Directory listed 799 W. 5th.

The 1939 and 1941 Dubuque City Directory listed 799 W. 5th and 222 W. 9th for Harkett's Nursery.

The 1942 Dubuque Classified Business Directory listed 222 W. 9th for Harkett's Nursery.
