FRUDDEN, Arbst F. (Island of Fohr, province of Schleswig Holstein, Germany, Sept. 10, 1854-Apr., 1931). Frudden came to Dubuque in 1871. He worked on a farm from 1873 to 1879 when he became a factory worked at the Curtis Brothers Company in Clinton. He returned to Dubuque as a foreman with the Carr, Ryder, and Wheeler Sash and Door Manufacturing Company.

He remained with the company four years before resigning to organize with his brothers, Dan and F. A. Rumpf, a line of retail lumberyards known as the Frudden Lumber Company. This became a line of wholesale lumberyards known as the Engler-Frudden Lumber Company. This later became the Rumpf-Frudden Lumber Company.

Republican political material used against Frudden.

Locally, Frudden was a director of FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE and in 1913 was elected president of the DUBUQUE INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION. and the Northeastern and Central Iowa Lumberman's associations. He served as the president and director of the Northwestern Lumberman's Association for a number of years and was also president and the Northwestern Iowa and Central Iowa Lumbermen's Association. He served as vice-president of the Northwestern Stares Portland Cement Company of Mason City. (1)

Frudden was a member of the Iowa legislature in the 29th, 30th, and 31st assemblies and later in the Iowa Senate from 1906-1911. (2)
