FERRING, Eric
FERRING, Eric. (Dubuque, IA-- ). A graduate of DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, Ferring graduated magna cum laude and received his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Drake University in 2014 and his Master of Music degree in opera performance from the Boston Conservatory in 2016. (1) Mr. Ferring was a Young Artist at both the Seagle Music Colony and Cedar Rapids Opera and performed numerous roles. He also performed at Lakes Area Music Festival as "Flute" in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. (2)
Ferring received Third Prize at the 2017 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Voice Competition, three Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions District Encouragement Awards, and a Regional Encouragement Award from the Great Lakes Region. He took 2nd Place in the 2014 Hal Leonard Vocal Competition: Art Song Division, was a two-time finalist for the International Crescendo Music Awards, and a winner at the 2013 Central Iowa Symphony and Fort Dodge Symphony Competitions. Ferring conducted To Hell and Back, Old Maid and the Thief, A Chorus Line, Sweeney Todd, Anything Goes, and A Little Night Music, as well as was assistant conductor in productions of Iphigénie en Tauride and Le nozze di Figaro. (4)
In 2017 while in his second year as a resident artist at the Pittsburgh Opera, Ferring, a tenor, was accepted into the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. (5)
In 2022 Eric was named one of five winners of the 2022 George London Award earning a prize of $10,000. (6) In December, 2022 he was expected to release his debut album, "No Choice but Love: Songs of the LGBTQ+Community." The title track was released as the first single from the album on National Company Out Day, October 11th. (7)
