ELEANOR ROOSEVELT MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School marked two important milestones in the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. It was the first new school in the district in thirty-five years and it marked the beginning of the K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 academic divisions of the district. Sixth graders who had been elementary students were relocated to middle schools and one of the largest staff realignments in the district was carried out.
Completed in August, 2005 Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School, "Home of the Raptors," was planned for 1,215 students in grades 6-8. The total cost was $29.9 million. The address was 2001 Radford Road.
In January 2016, Billy Goats, a team of students from Roosevelt Middle School placed second in the Overall Project Category of the FIRST Lego League Championship held at Iowa State University in Ames. Trash Bashers, also from Roosevelt, received an honorable mention in the Overall Core Values category. More than 100 teams of students in fourth through eighth grades participated in the competition that promotes science, technology, engineering and teamwork. (1)
