EBONYSHELL. A migratory species that has been restricted from the Upper Mississippi River since 1913 and the completion of the Keokuk dam, the ebonyshell has historically been found in the Dubuque area. The host fish for the young include the skipjack herring. This species is considered jeopardized in Minnesota and Missouri and threatened in Illinois.
