DUBUQUE SWISS SOCIETY. Encouraged by their participation in the Dubuque Centennial celebration and a masquerade ball, Dubuque residents of Swiss descent decided in February 1877 to form a permanent organization. The goal of the group was mutual recreation and among the aims was to prepare an annual masquerade ball and present dramatic presentations of their country's history.
