DUBUQUE FORWARD. The announcement was made on August 11, 2022 of the formation of Dubuque Forward, a new non-profit with the goals of population growth and development of the city including economic growth, housing, and transportation. At a public meeting held in the Historic Millwork District, officials of the organization pointed to numerous plans over the past twenty years for future development. Dubuque Forward would position itself to find commonalities in those plans and form partnerships with nonprofit organizations, developers, and investors to see the shared goals were achieved.

Among the goals of Dubuque Forward would be to see the population grow from 58,000 currently to 85,000.

At the time of the public meeting, the organization had hired Houseal Lavigne Associates, an urban planning and design firm, to review fifteen plans developed bu the city and local organization to identify potential areas of focus. (1)

The organization announced a Downtown Core Development Strategy Workshop for January 22nd at STEEPLE SQUARE. David Gamble founding associate of Gamble Associates was contacted to create a Downtown Core Development Strategy that would leverage planned development activity such as the University of Dubuque's planned John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine and the DUBUQUE MUSEUM OF ART expansion. The work session was scheduled to build on ideas proposed by Dubuque Forward conversations, ENVISION 2030, and city priorities to improve the downtown area. (2)
