DUBUQUE BAPTIST CHURCH
DUBUQUE BAPTIST CHURCH. Located overlooking US 52/61/151 near South Grandview Avenue, the church began as a congregation formed in 1961. In 1975, it became a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in the United States. The church, which founded a mission congregation in Monticello, dedicated its building in 1969.
In 1994 the church raised enough money to purchase a 24-foot, six-sided steeple with a cross on the top. It was then discovered that the weight of the steeple could not be supported without the building's structure being reinforced. A new steeple was constructed and installed in October 1997. (1)
