DUBUQUE, VINTON AND SOUTHWEST RAILWAY COMPANY
DUBUQUE, VINTON AND SOUTHWEST RAILWAY COMPANY. The articles of incorporation for the Dubuque, Vinton and Southwest Railway Company were filed in late June, 1901. (1) At a meeting on July 3, 1901 the directors chose as officers William Harrison DAY, Sr., president; D. D. Meyers, vice-president; E. J. McVann, secretary; and Frank COATES, treasurer. A report at the time stated that the secretary had been in contact with towns along the proposed route with suggestions as to how they could assist in the construction. (2)
The company organized with a capital stock of $100,000. The seventy-four incorporators were all from Dubuque. (3) The route from Dubuque through Vinton, Tama and Toledo was to end in Newton in Jasper County. (4)
