DENISON, John D. Jr. (Clarion, IA, Sept, 29, 1872--Newton, CT, Mar. 4, 1953). Besides an active career as an attorney, Denison played a major role in fraternal organizations locally, statewide and nationally. In 1901 he served as the head auditor of the Modern Woodmen of America, from 1905 to 1908 the beneficiary committeeman of the Royal Neighbors of America, in 1904 president of the Iowa Fraternal Congress, and beginning in 1905 a director of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen. He was also a member of the NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.

Politically he was a Democratic candidate for Iowa attorney general and in 1906 lieutenant governor. In 1908 and 1910 he was a candidate for Congress.
