DAVID B. HENDERSON-1433 MAIN
DAVID B. HENDERSON HOME. This Italianate style house was completed in 1881 by Fridolin HEER for Colonel David B. HENDERSON and his family. Henderson, a Scottish immigrant, was wounded twice while serving as an officer in the CIVIL WAR. He became a lawyer, Internal Revenue Service collector, and U.S. Assistant District Attorney before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1883. Congressman Henderson represented Dubuque in Washington D.C. for twenty years, eventually serving as Speaker of the House.
