CUSHING-MCFADDEN VINEGAR COMPANY
CUSHING-MCFADDEN VINEGAR COMPANY. In 1863 a vinegar works on Iowa Street was established by Palmer & Company. This was purchased in 1864 and became the JAMES CUSHING AND SON VINEGAR COMPANY. With the growth of business, a larger factory was needed and in 1873 one was constructed on Eagle Point Avenue near its intersection with Valeria. During a period of four years, Cushing was associated with Thomas Warbock. Fifty barrels of vinegar were produced daily.
On December 4, 1902, James McFadden purchased the company, and the Cushing-McFadden Vinegar Company was incorporated on December 13, 1902. The products of the new company included vinegar, mustard and cider.
