COMELEC SERVICES INC. Comelec Services, a fiber optics provider, was created in July 1988 in Iowa. The company was an Authorized Motorola Service Center before that time. Starting with the Dubuque, IA office, the company expanded to Rockford, IL and provided 24/7 service to Eastern Iowa, Southern Wisconsin, and Northern Illinois. The business sold and serviced two-way radio communications equipment, microwave systems, video surveillance, 24/7 security monitoring, paging, mobile data, and Motorola Symbol in/outdoor wireless products. In 2022 Comelec and Woodward Communications Inc. partnered to create Comelec Fiber to focus on building a network of fiber internet service within the city of Dubuque. The goal would be to provide fiber access to 3,000 residential consumers in 2022. Comelec's existing internet services company, Comelec Internet, would remain as a standalone division of Comelec Services with the partnership having no effect on the current customers of Comelec Internet. Comelec Internet would also continue constructing fiber networks in Farlet, Epworth, and Dyersville. (2)
