CODY, William F. "Buffalo Bill"
CODY, William F. "Buffalo Bill." Dozens of books have been written about this famed Wild West frontiersman. His association with Dubuque comes through Charles J. W. SAUNDERS.
Cody brought his Wild West Show to Dubuque. On September 5, 1879 using the title "Knights of the Plains," Cody's program was presented at the Opera House. (1) He has also been credited with enlarging the American vocabulary with such terms as "dude ranch," "Wild West," and "rough rider." (2)
