CLAY STREET MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION. This voluntary business association of merchants in one area of Dubuque was active around 1915.

In October, 1915 members of the DUBUQUE CLUB discussed the potential of an organization to boost Dubuque's economy. This organization, which would represent the entire city, would not replace any of the other organizations like the Dubuque Club, DUBUQUE INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION, Clay Street Merchants Association, or the West Dubuque Improvement Association. The new organization would coordinate efforts of these groups. (1)
