CINDERELLA
CINDERELLA. "Cinderella" was a special orange colored trunk owned by INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY that spread cinders on Interstate's principal bus routes during icy winters to ensure transportation. (1)
The cinder truck began as a bus on the East Dubuque route from 1925 through 1938. It was converted to the spreader in 1938 and carried from one to three workmen who were responsible for making the streets safe. (2) In January 1951, however, it was replaced by "Cinderella #2," a new orange vehicle which cost $6,500 and required only one person. (3)
