CIGRAND, Greg J.
CIGRAND, Greg J. (Dubuque, IA, Apr. 24, 1950--Dubuque, Apr. 28, 2024) The oldest of four children born to Ralph and Mary Cigrand, Greg graduated from WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL and Hawkeye Tech. He started his career shortly after that at JOHN DEERE DUBUQUE WORKS where he worked as a machinist in the tool and die room.
He was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the VIETNAM WAR. After returning home, Greg continued to work at the JOHN DEERE DUBUQUE WORKS, retiring after 30 years. After his retirement, he worked in the Golf Shop at Thunder Hills for ten years.
Greg married Cindy Hirsch, in 1972, at CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY. He was a devoted father to his two children, Aaron (Jessica) Cigrand and Molly (Curt) Deutsch, and was best known as “Pops” to his four grandchildren, Mason and Rylee Cigrand and Nolan and Mara Deutsch, and his grand dogs. The family motto was “Always be kind.”
Greg’s free time was spent with golf league in the summer and pool league in the winter. He spent many years on the board of the Iowa High School Hockey League.
