CHESTERMAN, Karen. (Bellevue, IA, July 19, 1944--Dubuque, IA, June 26, 2017). The daughter of Wilfred F. and Alice C. (Steines) Trute, Karen graduated as Salutatorian from Marquette High School in Bellevue, with the class of 1962.

Karen invested over 28 years of her time and talents with the City of Dubuque as the Deputy City Clerk. She was also very active socially and was a member of many different organizations including; Toastmasters Club #1337, where she was a past president, a Charter member of the Professional Women's Network, and the Dubuque Morning Optimists, where she was a past president and life member.

Karen was also a faith filled woman who was a long-time member of St. Anthony's Church; where she sang in the choir, served as a lector, and was also a member of the Power of Prayer, CEW, Emmaus Communities, and was also proud of her accomplishments with the Downtown Ecumenical Brown Bag Bible Studies.

Karen had a great appreciation for history which led her to write "Choices, Chances and Serendipity", a presentation she was eager to share with all who would listen. She also wrote two DUBUQUE CITY HALL history brochures and recorded city history in over 25 books of meeting minutes.
