BRAND, Nick. (Berne, Switzerland, Nov. 929, 1830--Unknown). Brand came to the United States in 1852 and settled in Dubuque in the spring of 1854.

He began his butcher business which he continued through 1880. The last address was 1575 Clay Street. In the fall of 1858, he married Miss Elizabeth Bishop, a native of Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany; they have seven children- Nick, John, Louise, Katie, Samuel, Alois, Ann Elizabeth.
