BACONFEST

BACONFEST. A fundraiser for AREA RESIDENTIAL CARE, INC., Baconfest was first held in the fall of 2013. In 2014 the same celebration of the salty, crunchy treat--bacon--was scheduled for October 2nd at the Dubuque County Fair Grounds. Tickets were limited to the first 500 customers (450 general admission ($25) and 50 VIPs ($40)). (1)

Patterned after the Des Moines Baconfest, the local event in 2014 was planned to include an oink-off contest and the crowning of the first-ever King or Queen of Baconfest. (2)

In 2018 twenty-three food vendors competed for the votes of the judges and more than six hundred others in attendance. (3)
