B. R. POWELL. In 1875 the establishment of B. R. Powell received a great deal of attention by the Dubuque Herald. Recently installed was "one of the most elegant and costliest soda fountains in the city." Going on in the article, the writers added:
It is of the Chateau style of architecture with columns and pinnacles containing five different kinds of marble, is silver mounted, cost of $600 and is really worth a visit to see what beauty and perfection the art has attained. (1)
The 1874-1875 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located at 876 Main.
The 1880 Dubuque City Directory placed this business at 896 Main.
