ADAMS, Paul Livermore
ADAMS, Paul Livermore. (Dubuque, IA, Mar. 1, 1912--Roatan Island, Honduras, Aug. 17, 1979). Retired president, CARADCO Division of Scoville Manufacturing Company. Adams served as a director of several business groups outside of Dubuque including the Ponderosa Pine Industry Association. He held membership on the boards of SPAHN AND ROSE LUMBER COMPANY (1936), CARR, ADAMS AND COLLIER COMPANY (1937), FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE (1939), and the DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB. He was elected to the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT board of education in 1948.
In 1943 while on WORLD WAR II convoy duty, Adams spotted Roatan Island off the coast of South America and vowed to return. In 1953 he obtained a 99-year lease on coastal property and began development of Anthony's Key Resort.
