MCNAMARA, Francis Patrick. (Fitchburg, MA, Dec. 22, 1883- Dubuque, IA, July 2, 1944). Physician. McNamara, president of the medical staff at the FINLEY HOSPITAL in 1923 and 1924, published nearly one hundred articles on medical topics. Founder of the Clinicopathological Conference at Finley, McNamara each month contributed an article to the Iowa State Medical Journal. With two other Iowa doctors, he wrote the Cancer Manual of the Iowa State Medical Society.

For his exhibit of pathologic specimens, McNamara was awarded the 1933 silver medal, class 2, by the Committee of Awards Scientific Exhibit of the American Medical Association. He was president of the Dubuque County Medical Society from 1931 to 1935 and served as president of the Iowa State Medical Society in 1940.
