DUBUQUE ZITHER CLUB. Organized around 1891, the original members were nearly all foreign born. By 1909 the organization under the leadership of G. E. Davis was composed of performers using zithers, guitars, violins, flutes, orchestra bells, cello and a harp. In 1909 other midwestern cities featuring such a group included Chicago and Milwaukee.

In addition to performing in Dubuque, the group gave concerts on steamboat excursions to Clinton and Savanna.
