William Carter

CARTER, William. (Jessamine Co., KY, Apr. 5, 1806-Dubuque, IA, 1883). Superintendent of the Dubuque Shot Manufactory. Carter arrived in Dubuque during September 1832, and began MINING activities in the spring of 1833. In 1862 with Caleb H. BOOTH and R. O. Chaney, Carter constructed their SHOT manufacturing works.
