BENZ, Diana. (Peterson, IA, Oct. 16, 1936-Iowa City, IA, Jan. 5, 1988). Weaver. Benz, formerly a teacher in Dubuque, became nationally renowned as a weaver, textile designer, and co-founder of the Weaving Studio in Iowa City. A commission from the State of Iowa, as part of its Arts in Public Places program, hangs in the state penitentiary in Fort Madison.
