HAWKEYE MOTORCYCLE CLUB
HAWKEYE MOTORCYCLE CLUB. Family-oriented club. Participants in the club met informally before signing articles of incorporation for the Hawkeye Motorcycle Club of Dubuque on December 30, 1946, and filing them on February 11, 1947. With hill climbs, races, poker runs, field events and other club activities, the club joined the American Motorcycle Association. The charter number 512 indicated that the Dubuque group was the oldest active AMA chartered club in Iowa.
Among the accomplishments of the members was the creation of the 500-foot hill climb at Dickeyville, Wisconsin in 1968. Crowds estimated at three thousand spectators attended the two climbs planned each year.
