BYRNE, Thomas. (Dublin, Ireland, 1929—Dubuque, IA, Nov. 29, 1909). Stonemason and contractor. Bryne arrived in Dubuque in the late 1850s and became a contractor responsible for erecting such notable Dubuque structures as St. Luke’s church at 12th and Main, St. Columbkille’s church and school on Rush St., and, in Elkader, IA, St. Joseph’s church and the historic double stone-arch bridge. He served eight years on the Dubuque City Council.
