REVOLUTIONARY WAR. War fought for independence. Iowa's only casualty was Jean Marie CARDINAL. The single military action fought in what today is Iowa occurred when Cardinal was attacked by the British at the mouth of Catfish Creek, south of the present City of Dubuque.
