LAMKIN, Fletcher ( ). Lamkin served eighteen months as the interim president of CLARKE UNIVERSITY before being named the 17th president in July, 2024. During his term as interim president, he directed progress on campuswide initiatives including new strategic plan to prepare the university for a major capital campaign. Pleased with his leadership, the board of trustees chose not to held a presidential search. Prior to coming to Clarke, Lamkin had been a professor, dean of academics, vice president for instructional advancement, and president at several colleges including two terms as president at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri from 2000 to 2007 and 2017 to 2020.

At Clarke, his work centered on building the new strategic plan with goals including improved communication, boosting enrollment, and addressing student retention. A new academic advising structure had been instituted for first-year students who had declared a major. He also worked on preparations for a $40 million capital campaign to remodel residence halls, update the library and reconfiguring campus facilities to create a Center for Academic Excellence housing academic advising and career services.
