COX DRIVE IN. DORANCE COX operated a tavern at University and Van Buren for approximately fifteen years. Wanting to reduce his hours a little, he decided to open a drive-in. This operated during the mid-1960s.

The 1964 through 1968 Dubuque City Directory listed 2613 University.
