DARLIN, Fred
DARLIN, Fred. (Unknown--Dubuque, IA, May 21, 1962). Darlin served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy in the Pacific during WORLD WAR II. After earning his bachelor's degree at Slippery Rock (PA) State Teachers' College and his master's degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, he served as a teacher and administrator. He joined Dun and Bradstreet in Chicago and worked at their offices in Chicago before coming to Dubuque with his wife [[DARLIN, Elisha|Elisha DARLIN].
Darlin was appointed to the school board in November, 1965 and served until September, 1966.
Darlin served as president of the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY and was active in the Dubuque Area Economic Opportunity Agency, Rotary Club, and the Clarke College Development Council. He was captain of the Dubuque Educational Advancement Fund and served as a member of the educational committees of the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE the Parent-Teacher Association, and the DUBUQUE ART ASSOCIATION. He was vice-chairman of the March of Dimes. Beginning in February, 1967 he served as pack committee chairman for the Boy Scout pack of LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and was past president and assistant district governor of the Toast Masters' Club.
