BEETHOVEN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
BEETHOVEN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC. Managed by W. V. JONES, the Conservatory offered concerts provided by their graduating students. The concert in 1878 was performed in the Opera House on May 21st. (1) In November, 1879, First Congregational Church (later FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST) was the host for the evening. The program consisted of three female graduating students performing selections by Beethoven, Mozart, and Mendelssohn. Mr. Frank H. Wilcox, a vocalist, offered two songs as a counter to the instrumentals. (2)
The 1875-1876 Dubuque City Directory listed the southeast corner of 9th and Locust.
According to the 1880 Dubuque City Directory, the Conservatory was located in the FACADE BUILDING.
