BLY, David. (Dubuque, IA, January 8, 1952---). Bly was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2006, and was re-elected in 2008. He was unseated by Republican Kelby Woodard in the 2010 general election, losing by 37 votes after an election recount. He was a member of the House Finance subcommittees for the Early Childhood Finance and Policy Division, the Energy Finance and Policy Division, the Higher Education and Workforce Development Finance and Policy Division, and the Housing Finance and Policy and Public Health Finance Division.

Bly was a teacher at the Northfield Area Learning Center and a long-time resident of Northfield. He was the author of a booklet called "The Middle Class Amendment."
