Theodore Altman

ALTMAN, Theodore. (Duchy of Luxemburg, Mar. 23, 1833-- ). Altman immigrated to the United States in 1857 and came to Dubuque. He farmed until 1869. (1)

Altman purchased the HARMONY HALL, a hotel and one of Dubuque's most prominent buildings. He also served as an alderman for the Third Ward for three consecutive terms around 1878-1880. (2)

He is remembered as founder of the LUXEMBURGER GAZETTE.
