LAVENDAR HILL
LAVENDAR HILL. Founded in the mid-1960s by John Walachy, a graduate of WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL and LORAS COLLEGE, the group often played covers of songs by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Neil Young. Performing until 1979, the group was remembered for a "heavy and loud" sound.
More than twenty members joined and left the group during its fifteen years with Walachy playing lead guitar throughout. The band performed throughout the Tri-State area and reunited one last time in 2011 at the Rock & Roll Rewind. Walachy died later that year.
