SCHLADER, Donald R. (Cresco, IA, Feb. 28, 1926--Dubuque, IA, July 30, 2010). Graduating from LORAS COLLEGE in 1950 on the G. I. Bill, Schlader worked for Capital Tobacco in the personnel department and at the Oliver Corporation. Moving to Dubuque, he worked for CRESCENT ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY in the general office and was the manager of lighting, lamps, and electric heat.

In the community he was a committee chairman of the Boy Scouts for eighteen years, St. Vincent de Paul Society for more than twenty-five years, Eucharist minister of St. Columbkille's parish and member of the Parish Concerns Committee for ten years. As a life member of the Knights of Columbus, he served as chairman of the annual retreat at New Melleray Abbey for St. Columbkille's parish.
