DIAMOND JO. Second floating casino in Dubuque County. Replacing the DUBUQUE CASINO BELLE in 1993, the Diamond Jo was manufactured by Fletcher Leasing, one of the oldest steamship/barge excursioin companies in the Northeast. It was refurbished by the Bollinger Shipyard near New Orleans where sixty feet was added to its length. The boat, measuring an estimated 189 feet in length, was scheduled to have seventeen gaming tables, 320 slot machines and video games and two bars. The boar provided a daycare center and a passenger capacity ranging from 750 to 800.

In November 1997, the Las Vegas-based Cambridge Iowa Gaming Company agreed to purchase the boat. The company also announced that it would work with the city council to further develop the Fourth Street peninsula.
