MEDLINE. In 2000 Medline, a medical supply company, opened its first office in Dubuque. Starting with twenty-five employees, the company's employment reached 275 within a decade. In 2018 the employment reached 481 in the customer service facility at 7900 Chavenelle Road. In 2009 a new 66,000 square-foot facility was opened on Chavenelle Road. In 2018 it was announced the company would leave this facility as soon as its new building on Innovation Drive was constructed.

The new facility would offered twice the square footage and opportunities to offer more benefits to its employees including a cafeteria, fitness center and gymnasium, pond and walking trail. Medline planned to invest $19.6 million on the new facility including $11.4 on building construction. Site plans of the project indicated a possible 30,000-square-foot expansion in the future.

The company which also announced plans to hire more than one hundred additional employees, planned to begin construction in the Dubuque Industrial Center West in the summer of 2018 with operations beginning in the new building by late 2019.
