SALAMANDER MUSSEL. Mussel. This mussel may have been completely eliminated from the MISSISSIPPI RIVER due to ZEBRA MUSSELS. The adult shell in about 1.5 inches long. It lives in small colonies beneath rocks which is also the habitat for its host the mudpuppy.
