DUCHOW, Nyssa. (Dubuque, IA-- ) A graduate of Webster University in St. Louis with studies in musical theater, Nyssa moved to New York City. Walking through Central Park, she was photographed by Brandon Stanton who interviewed her about the challenges she faced and her fears. This became part of "Humans of New York", a widely renowned and followed blog whose purpose was to capture everyday masses of New Yorkers and their stories. "Humans in New York" was also developed into a New York Times best-selling book.

As a result of being involved in the project, Duchow received potential performance opportunities and her posts on the Humans in New York Facebook page led to nearly 100,000 "likes" and many comments. Encouragement came to her from around the world.
