ATKINSON, Louise. (England-- ). Upon to her arrival in New York, Atkinson studied art in London. After arriving in the United States, she became a member of the Art Students League known for its membership of well-established artists.

She came to Dubuque in 1891 and immediately specialized in river scenery and landscapes. Among her paintings was "Dubuque's Grave." She also branched off into portrait work at her studio at Eighth and Main.
