MANNING, Herbert E. (Chicago, IL--Watertown, NY, Aug. 9, 1981). Educator. Manning did not undergraduate work at the University of Arizona. He earned his M.Div. degree and then studied for a year at New College of the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). In 1968 he was ordained as a United Presbyterian minister and served as associate pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in DeKalb, Illinois.

In 1975 Manning received a Ph.D. in systematic theology from Aquinas Institute of Theology. He was a member of the Ministerial Relations Committee of the Presbytery and also dean of the Young Pastors Seminar program sponsored by the Vocation Agency. He was the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary representative to the Council of Theological Seminaries and served on the General Assembly task forces.
