BEHR, Norbert
BEHR, Norbert. (Sherrill's Mound, IA, Jan. 8, 1913--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 30, 2000). Behr was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Dubuque beginning in 1934. He was first elected Dubuque County Coroner in 1942. Drafted during WORLD WAR II, he returned to Dubuque in 1946 and was re-elected eventually serving three terms. (1) He was the founder of BEHR'S FUNERAL HOME established in 1936 in Dubuque and the Miller Funeral Home established in 1975 in East Dubuque, Illinois.
Behr was a charter member and past president of the Dubuque Funeral Directors Association. He was also a charter member of the Tri-State Men's Garden Club and member of the DUBUQUE ARBORETUM AND BOTANICAL GARDENS, 330 Club of the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY, Beekeepers' Association, and the Dubuque German Club.
